  • succulent perennial with prostrate or trailing stems
  • leaves opposite on lower stem, alternate above, thick, fleshy, ovate-lanceolate, usually 1/2 - 1 inch long
  • flowers in a short spike-like raceme, with 4 small pale yellow petals
  • occurs in saline soils near coast as well as at inland saline sites
  • 7 counties in coastal and southern Texas; also Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon
